Minneriya

Home to one of Asia's greatest wildlife spectacles, The Gathering brings hundreds of wild elephants to Minneriya Tank's receding shoreline between July and October. Scenes of up to three hundred elephants feeding, bathing and socialising unfold at almost unimaginable scale. Year-round birdwatching adds further depth, with painted storks and sea eagles nesting in nearby trees.
