Your Daily Path

Day 1 - Arrival & Eco-Lodge Orientation

Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport. Transfer to a boutique eco-lodge near Habarana or Dambulla. An afternoon orientation walk introduces this island. The evening eco-session covers local biodiversity and sustainable practices, the philosophy underpinning every day that follows.

Day 2 - The Ritigala Forest Visit

A morning guided trek through Ritigala Strict Nature Reserve: ancient monastery ruins buried in endemic forest, with birdlife and almost no other visitors. A picnic lunch in the forest is followed by an afternoon hike to historical remains and forest streams; the day’s quietness is itself the point.

Day 3 - The Gathering & Eco-Village

A morning safari at Minneriya National Park, where the seasonal Gathering of elephants takes place around the reservoir. The afternoon is spent visiting a nearby eco-village to interact with local farmers and observe sustainable agricultural practices that have sustained this landscape.

Day 4 - Polonnaruwa & Wetland Walks

A guided cycling tour of Polonnaruwa Ancient City reframes heritage not as a museum but as a living ecology. An afternoon gentle walk along the Parakrama Samudra embankments and surrounding wetlands completes a day that beautifully balances history and natural observation.

Day 5 - Sri Lanka's First People

Travel to Dambana village, home of the Vedda community. A guided forest walk with cultural storytelling and participation in traditional activities, including honey collection and forest navigation, is one of the rarest and most meaningful experiences available in Sri Lanka today.

Day 6 - Mahaweli River & Forest Paths

A guided morning trek along the tributaries of the Mahaweli River and traditional fishing communities. A picnic lunch by the water. The afternoon brings a short forest hike or gentle canoeing on stretches of the river, rounded off with a meditation or yoga session at the eco-lodge.

Day 7 - Matale Forest Reserve & Endemic Birds

Transfer to a lesser-visited forest reserve in the Matale foothills, where guided rainforest walking and birdwatching for endemic species rewards. The afternoon hike to viewpoints and forest streams offers the kind of discovery that only comes from choosing the path less taken.

Day 8 - Highland Tea Estate & Wellness

Arrive at a boutique highland tea estate for a guided walk through the plantation and surrounding forest, revealing the relationship between elevation, rainfall and the cup of tea. The afternoon gives itself over to a yoga, meditation or spa treatment session, rest earned and well deserved.

Day 9 - Farewell & Departure

A private transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport. An optional stop at a forest viewpoint or a small eco-cafe allows for a final moment with Sri Lanka’s natural landscape. Depart with the quiet knowledge of having experienced the island at its most genuine and unhurried depth.
